Welcome to Teton Climbing Guide
Ira and Amalia Handler reaching Cirque of the Towers, Wind River Wilderness
Welcome to my website, Teton Climbing Guide. I'm Brian Smith, an Exum Mountain Guide and AMGA Certified Rock Guide based out of Jackson Hole, Wyoming. I have been guiding mountaineering and rock climbing trips for Exum Mountain Guides for over nine years, primarily in the Teton and Wind River Ranges. I have also taught climbing and guided at Devils Tower in Wyoming, the Needles of South Dakota, Red Rocks just outside of Las Vegas, Lumpy Ridge in Rocky Mountain National Park, Eldorado Canyon just outside of Boulder, Colorado, and on Denali in Alaska. Whether you are looking for an alpine, rock, or ski adventure, I have the training and experience to guide you toward your goals.
I am an American Mountain Guides Association (AMGA) Certified Rock Guide. That means I have received the highest level of training available for guiding clients on multi-pitch rock climbs. It also means that my clients can expect to receive a high degree of professionalism, risk management, client care, and of course, client rewards. The AMGA guide training program consists of three main tracks, including rock, alpine, and ski. I am pursuing certification in each discipline and in addition to passing the rock discipline, I have also taken an AMGA Alpine Guide Course, Ice Instructor Course, Ski Guide Course, Avalanche Level III, and I am enrolled in an Advanced Alpine Guide Course/Aspirant Exam to be held in the Cascades in September, 2014. My intention is to complete my AMGA training in the alpine and ski disciplines within the next two to three years in order to become a fully certified IFMGA/UIAGM guide. I am grateful to Exum Mountain Guides, Marmot, and the AMGA for providing me with scholarships to assist in my certification.
"Brian, The climb was awesome and you did an outstanding job of guiding my son Austin, me, and Jeff through a most amazing experience. Thank you so much for your safe, consistent, and obviously very knowledgeable guidance and instruction. Thanks again - you were great!" Marty
